Reservation Windows

All Hyde Hall reservation requests must be submitted at least four weeks prior to your desired event date. The Institute will only consider applications that are submitted in the specified time frame.

Current reservation request window:

  • As of November 1, 2024, the Institute is accepting reservation requests for general events and conferences taking place in Spring or Summer 2025.

  • Beginning July 1, 2025, the Institute will begin accepting requests for general events in Fall 2025, or conferences taking place in Spring 2026.

Appropriate Events for Rentals

Hyde Hall rooms are primarily used year-round for faculty development programs and activities offered by the Institute for the Arts and Humanities. When available, Hyde Hall rooms may be used for activities related to our central mission.

The IAH will consider the following types of events:

  1. Faculty-focused arts, humanities, and interpretive social science events including, but not limited to, academic workshops, panels, lectures, conferences, and retreats.
  2. Donor events that support the arts, humanities, and interpretive social sciences.
  3. Special academic events held by UNC-Chapel Hill administrative partners.

The IAH will not consider the following types of events:

  1. Individual faculty/staff celebrations.
  2. Student-centric events.
  3. Staff-centric events.
  4. Events for organizations not affiliated with UNC-Chapel Hill.

The University Room and Incubator Room are available for room reservations. Please refer to our room rentals and pricing page for more information.

  • Please note that the Incubator Room is no longer available for reservation on Thursdays due to internal IAH Programming

The Leadership Library, which opened in fall 2024, is also available for reservation. It is not appropriate for events, but rather small gatherings of faculty. Please refer to the Leadership Library page for use guidelines.

Discounts for Core Constituency Units and Partners

The IAH will provide a discount of 50% of the room rental rate to faculty in our core constituency units and administrative partners. For a complete list of who the IAH provides a room rental discount, please click here (PDF).
