Application Deadline: Faculty Fellowship Program

September 24, 2020 @ 11:30 pm

The Institute for Arts and Humanities Announces a Call for 2021-2022 Faculty Fellowship Applications

The Faculty Fellowship Program offers UNC College of Arts and Sciences faculty the opportunity to pursue ambitious, exciting artistic and scholarly projects that lead to publication, exhibition, composition, and performance. During a semester-long fellowship, Fellows meet weekly to exchange ideas with an interdisciplinary cohort of peers. The program is led by Dr. Timothy Marr, Associate Professor in the Department of American Studies.

IAH Faculty Fellowships support work in which the arts or humanities plays a central role. Proposals from faculty in the natural and social sciences are welcomed if the proposed project focuses on the arts or humanities. Tenure-track faculty of all ranks in or beyond their second year at UNC are eligible to apply. Fixed-term faculty in or after their fourth year are also eligible if they will be returning to their department the following semester.

As part of a three-year special focus on race, memory, and reckoning at UNC, the IAH will also award two additional fellowships dedicated specifically to faculty research, publication, support, education, and outreach on race, reckoning, and memory. The IAH Race, Memory, and Reckoning Initiative, which supports these fellowships, aims to contribute to a broader campus effort to place inclusion, diversity, equity, and historical accuracy at the top of the University’s agenda. Faculty may apply to either or both of the regular Fellows program and the Race, Memory, and Reckoning fellowships during this cycle.

The application includes the online application form, a current curriculum vitae, and a four-page project statement. The deadline to apply is Thursday, September 24 at 11:59 p.m. For more information, please contact IAH Program Administrator Philip Hollingsworth at or visit
