Nadia Yaqub

Interim Director, Associate Professor Program

Nadia Yaqub is professor in the Department of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies and coordinator of the department’s Arabic program, while also serving as an adjunct associate professor in the Department of English and Comparative Literature.

Yaqub’s research has treated Arab cultural texts ranging from medieval literature and contemporary oral poetry to modern prose fiction and visual culture.Most recently, she has focused on two distinct areas of inquiry: Palestinian visual culture, and women and transgression in the Arab world, and has published a book in each of these areas: Bad Girls of the Arab World, which was co-edited with Rula Quawas, and Palestinian Cinema in the Days of Revolution.
