Institute for Arts and Humanities Public Communications Specialist Melissa Clay

Melissa Clay joins the Institute for the Arts and Humanities after working as a reporter, copy editor, designer, manager in journalism. Most recently she worked as Deputy Digital Editor at the Chicago Tribune where she led a team of 20 digital producers and editors. She also served as board secretary for the CCI Users Group, a consortium of global media companies on technology. Before that, she worked at Newsday and The Stamford Advocate.
Clay received a Bachelor’s of Science in Communications at University of Miami with a double major in political science and journalism.

As Public Communications Specialist, Clay manages the IAH website, social media, newsletters and press releases, edits and designs marketing materials for IAH events and assists the staff with any communications needs.
When not on Twitter and Facebook or telling and reading stories, she enjoys traveling, hiking and cooking. She is also a fan of documentaries and Oscar-nominated films and hopes to one day become a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
