Arts & Humanities Citation Index (A&HCI)

A multidisciplinary database covering the journal literature of the arts and humanities. It indexes 1,100 of the world's leading arts and humanities journals, as well as covering individually selected, relevant items from more than 6,800 major science and social science journals.

Thesaurus linguae Graecae

A collection of digitized literary texts in Greek from the time of the poet Homer in the 8th Century B.C.E. to the fall of Byzantine Empire in 1453. It currently includes more than 3,700 authors and 12,000 works. Ultimately, the goal is to create a digital library of Greek literature from antiquity to the present.

Grove Music Online - Contains Full Text

Grove Music Online is an integrated music resource on the Web, including the full text of The New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians (second edition; 29 volumes), The New Grove Dictionary of Opera (4 volumes) and The New Grove Dictionary of Jazz (second edition; 3 volumes).

International Index to Music Periodicals

Provides indexing and abstracts for more than 400 international music periodicals from more than 20 countries and indexes feature music articles and obituaries appearing in The New York Times and The Washington Post.  

Music Index

Published since 1949, The Music Index: A Subject-Author Guide to Music Periodical Literature indexes more than 725 international periodicals about classical and popular music.

Database contains Web versions of Amnesty International’s publications (including periodicals, reports, briefing papers and news releases) going back to the early 1990s.

CIAO (Columbia International Affairs Online)

CIAO is designed to be the most complete source for theory and research in international affairs. It publishes a wide range of scholarship from 1991 on that includes working papers from university research institutes, occasional papers series from NGOs, foundation-funded research projects, tables of contents of selected journals and proceedings from conferences.

ATLA Religion Database  

A major index to journal articles, book reviews and essay collections in the field of religion.  

Bible in English (990-1970)

Collection contains 20 versions of the Bible. In addition to the 12 complete Bibles, there are five New Testament works, two Gospel works and William Tyndale's New Testament, Pentateuch and Jonah translations.

Patrologia Latina Database

The Patrologia Latina Database [PLD] is the searchable full-text database of the Patrologia Latina, which, with the Patrologia Graeco-Latina, comprise the Patrologiae Cursus Completus, one of the most important collections of Western philosophical and theological writing.

Index Islamicus

The international classified bibliography of publications in European languages on all aspects of Islam and the Muslim world. These materials, from about 2,500 periodicals worldwide, include journal articles, books, reviews, papers and multi-author works. The authors are Western scholars and Muslims writing in European languages.

AFRICAN-AMERICAN STUDIES

International Index to Black Periodicals Full Text

Includes current and retrospective bibliographic citations and abstracts from more than 150 scholarly and popular journals, newspapers and newsletters from the US, Africa and the Caribbean. In addition, provides full-text coverage of 40 core Black Studies periodicals. Subject coverage is wide-ranging and multidisciplinary, crossing the humanities and the social sciences as they relate to Black Studies.

African-American Perspectives: Pamphlets from the Daniel A. P. Murray Collection, 1818-1907 (Rare Book and Special Collections Division, Library of Congress)

The Daniel A. P. Murray Pamphlet Collection presents a panoramic and eclectic review of African-American history and culture, spanning almost 100 years from the early 19th through the early 20th centuries, with the bulk of the material published between 1875 and 1900. Among the authors represented are Frederick Douglass, Booker T. Washington, Ida B. Wells-Barnett, Benjamin W. Arnett, Alexander Crummel and Emanuel Love.

African-American Newspapers: The 19th Century

Starting with the Freedom’s Journal in 1827 and continuing in chronological order with the addition of 10 to 12 million words of new text each year (downloaded monthly), this database will ultimately contain the complete text of the major African-American newspapers published in the United States during the 19th century.

American FactFinder

Provides US Census data from 1990 to the present. Access data from the Decennial Census (1990 and 2000), the Economic Census (1997 and 2002), Annual Population Estimates (2005-06), Annual Economic Surveys (2003-05) and American Community Survey data as they become available.

America's Newspapers

Updated daily, America's Newspapers offers tens of millions of current and archived full-text articles from newspapers nationwide in a single, fully searchable online database. It includes the complete electronic editions of 827 newspapers - with 75% of these sources not available in any other library database.

American National Biography

The American National Biography highlights the lives of more than 18,000 persons who have been important and influential in the history of the United States, from the early days of European exploration to the present.

Free-text searching and complete indexing makes Ethnic NewsWatch easy to search.

glbtq: an encyclopedia of gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, & queer culture

The glbtq is the largest and most comprehensive encyclopedia of gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and queer culture online. It is written for everyone who has an interest in glbtq people and culture. At present the encyclopedia’s strengths are in literature and the arts, with more than one million words in more than 900 entries. On glbtq.com, visitors can review a range of topics and then quickly zoom in on specific sub-topics with ease.

RAMBI: Index of articles on Jewish studies

RAMBI is a selective bibliography of scholarly articles published in journals and as part of collections of articles covering Jewish studies and Israel.

Encyclopaedia Judaica, 2nd Ed.

This new edition includes more than 21,000 articles on Jewish life, culture, history and religion, from the beginnings of Judaism to the present. It represents the latest in scholarship and provides expanded treatment for such topics as women in Judaism, contemporary Jewish life and the full scope of the Diaspora. It also includes more than 600 maps, charts, photographs and other images, as well as detailed bibliographies and lists of newspapers and periodicals.

Internetarchiv Jüdischer Periodika

The Internet Archive of Jewish Periodicals offers the full text of more than 100 German-language, Jewish periodicals published mainly in Germany, beginning in 1806 and ending in 1938. Three search options (basic, advanced and expert) provide several means to find particular texts, or an alphabetical list of the periodicals can be browsed.

Shoah Foundation's visual history archive project

The Visual History Archive contains almost 52,000 videotaped interviews of Holocaust survivors, rescuers and witnesses gathered by the Shoah Foundation between 1994 and 2005.

MAJOR RETROSPECTIVE MULTIDISCIPLINARY INDEXES

Nineteenth Century Masterfile

The 19th Century Masterfile compiles a rich and growing assortment of indexes to 19th century printed material (actually from about 1774 to 1920). The indexes cover periodical literature, selected newspapers, books, U. S. government documents, U. S. patents and British Parliamentary Debates. New indexes are added regularly.

Readers' Guide Retrospective   (1890-ca. 1980)

The Readers' Guide Retrospective offers indexing of more than 500 popular periodicals and magazines for a period of more than 100 years, providing access to articles chronicling the daily lives and the momentous events of America in the 20th century.

Periodicals Index Online   (Formerly PCI-Humanities & Social Science Journals, late 17th c. to 1990s)

Periodical Index Online provides keyword indexing to the contents of more than 4,700 periodicals in the humanities and social sciences, from their first issues to 1995. Every article is indexed. The scope is international and includes separate records for approximately 15 million journal articles across 37 subject areas and 44 languages and dialects.
