UNC-Duke Exchange Fellowships
The UNC Institute for the Arts and Humanities (IAH) and Franklin Humanities Institute (FHI) at Duke University have teamed to offer an Exchange Fellowship program. Through this program, a UNC humanities scholar joins the FHI’s yearlong seminar, and a Duke humanities scholar joins the IAH Faculty Fellows seminar each semester.
All Fellows are expected to participate actively in weekly meetings and programs, to provide input and suggestions on visiting speakers, readings, and topics, and to contribute as needed in the coordination of seminar programs and projects. Fellows are provided shared office space in the John Hope Franklin Center for International and Interdisciplinary Studies.
The faculty member who is chosen as the UNC-Duke Exchange Fellow will be released from teaching two courses during the academic year. The faculty member will, in consultation with his or her department chair, work out whether to teach a 1-1 load or to not teach for one semester. The Exchange Fellow’s department will be compensated by the IAH at the same rate that the Institute pays for all participants in its Faculty Fellows Program.
