Welcome to IAH Podcast, a series from the Institute for the Arts and Humanities at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Our first podcast is an interview with Patricia Parker, Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Communication at UNC. She discusses her work at the Institute for the Arts and Humanities. “It was the Institute for the Arts and Humanities that really helped me go from idea to action,” she says about creating the Ella Baker Women’s Center for Leadership and Community Activism.

Professor Parker is Faculty Fellow (2002), Academic Leadership Program Fellow (2010) and participant in the Chairs Leadership Program (2015).

In the second part of our conversation with Patricia Parker, Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Communication, Philip Hollingsworth asks about the Ella Baker Women’s Center and its role in reigniting Dr. Parker’s passion for teaching. She also speaks to her sources of inspiration and making time for her research and writing despite her new duties as Chair of a department.
