The College of Arts and Sciences has always been at the academic center of the “Carolina experience.” Now our teaching and research are more essential than ever, as we prepare our students for the complexities of the 21st century.
Our academic mission is to create new knowledge, discover innovative solutions, teach what we’ve learned to outstanding undergraduate and graduate students, and engage meaningfully with the state, nation and world.

Carolina?
By J. Steven Reznick
Professor, Department of Psychology

Member, Faculty Athletics Committee, Undergraduate Admissions Committee
and the Athletics Council
Students choose to enroll at Carolina for various reasons, and our exciting athletics success is one of the many opportunities for engagement and entertainment within Carolina’s outstanding social fabric. At Carolina, our success on the field is complemented with comparable success in the classroom. My service on our Faculty Athletics Committee, our Undergraduate Admissions Committee and the Athletics Council has given me an intimate perspective on Carolina athletics.
