Institute for Arts and Humanities accepts nominations and applications for Academic Leadership Fellows

September 4, 2007

Chapel Hill, N.C. — The Institute for the Arts and Humanities (IAH) is accepting nominations and applications through Nov. 5 for its 2008-2009 class of Academic Leadership Program (ALP) Fellows.

"The ALP is designed to prepare the next generation of academic, intellectual and institutional leaders at UNC and provide ongoing support for faculty who have assumed leadership positions," says ALP Associate Director Kim Strom-Gottfried. "Fellows have the opportunity to clarify their career commitments, develop leadership skills, build a leadership network within the campus and extend their contacts to include other leaders beyond the University."

The semester-long fellowship includes a week of leadership training with the Center for Creative Leadership in Greensboro, N.C., one of the nation's most respected leadership development organizations. Fellows also receive a $7,000 flexible-use stipend.

Faculty who wish to nominate a colleague as a fellow should consult the nominee, then e-mail the name of the nominee to program assistant Will Nolan at wn@unc.edu, as well as a copy to IAH Senior Program Consultant David Kiel, kiel@email.unc.edu.

Nominees will be notified and directed to a Web site to access information about the program, and asked to submit application. Nominees must submit an application to be considered for the program.

A selection committee of current fellows will select the new class of Leadership Fellows.
