Programs
Institute for the Arts and Humanities programs support UNC faculty at every career stage by funding individual and collaborative research, showcasing faculty work, developing faculty leaders and teachers and facilitating the formation of collaborative, interdisciplinary communities that promote intellectual exchange. FellowshipsOur variety of fellowship programs provide faculty members the opportunity to pursue research and teaching interests. The IAH Model enables Fellows to share and examine their work with an interdisciplinary group of colleagues in weekly conversations. Grants MentoringThe IAH coordinates activities to help arts and humanities faculty learn to successfully apply for national grants to support their work. Leadership ProgramsSmall, interdisciplinary groups of faculty explore the trajectory of faculty careers and challenges facing the contemporary university through a semester-long Academic Leadership Program. New chairs in the College of Arts and Sciences meet to examine issues and provide peer support as they take on the challenges and opportunities the new role brings. Opportunity FundingThe IAH’s Schwab Opportunity Fund provides grant funding to support sustainable, collaborative projects of groups that include at least two IAH Fellows. Community ProgramsLectures and small-group gatherings showcase the work of Fellows and connect them with networks of alumni, Friends, business leaders and community members for intellectual exchange and support. Sponsored EventsConferences, lectures and reading and writing groups, sponsored and co-sponsored by the IAH, offer opportunities for faculty to pursue innovative, collaborative and interdisciplinary work with colleagues at UNC and institutions worldwide.
