Robert Hackney is a senior managing director of First Eagle Investment Management. Prior to joining First Eagle, he was a research analyst and portfolio manager for several investment firms, including Kellner, DiLeo & Company, Coniston Partners, and S.B. Lewis & Co.  He began his career at Loeb Rhoades, Hornblower & Company in 1979 as an investment banker specializing in mergers and acquisitions.  Hackney earned a B.A. in History in 1975 at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he was a Morehead Scholar. He later received a joint J.D/M.B.A from the university in 1979. Previously, he served on the UNC Board of Visitors.
