Mark KatzIAH Director Mark Katz has won the University Diversity Award for Faculty. The prize recognizes “significant contribution to the enhancement, support and/or furtherance of diversity on the campus and in the community.”

The winners of the 2017 University Diversity awards were announced March 2. They include an alumni member, a staff member, an undergraduate student, a graduate student, a community member, and a UNC department or unit.

“This is a tremendous honor—I could hardly imagine an award that would mean more to me than this one,” said Katz. “But there’s no question that I share the honor with colleagues—among the faculty, at the IAH, and in the community—who every day work so hard to promote diversity, inclusion, and fairness.”

Music Department Chair Louise Toppin nominated Katz.

The award ceremony is scheduled for Tuesday, April 4, from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. in the Pleasant’s Family Room of Wilson Library. Register here to attend.
