Seminar: "The Humanities and Aging: At the Frontier of Interdisciplinary Inquiry"

Aging expert and AARP Director of Academic Affairs Harry “Rick” Moody, Ph.D., will speak at the University Room at Hyde Hall 9:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 29, in an event co-sponsored by the Institute for the Arts and Humanities (IAH) and the Institute on Aging (IOA).

Moody will lead a seminar titled "The Humanities and Aging: At the Frontier of Interdisciplinary Inquiry" from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. The seminar will be followed by coffee and a general discussion of interest in networking among humanities and aging scholars.

If you plan to attend, please confirm with Diane Wurzinger at the Institute on Aging, diane_wurzinger@unc.edu, and provide her with your discipline. Moody plans to tailor the seminar to the audience.

In addition to his work with the AARP Office of Academic Affairs, Moody serves as a senior associate with the International Longevity Center-USA and as a senior fellow of Civic Ventures.

Moody is the author of more than 100 scholarly articles and book chapters. He edits several newsletters, including a monthly AARP e-newsletter, Human Values in Aging.

A graduate of Yale (1967), Moody earned a Ph.D. in philosophy from Columbia University (1973). Moody taught philosophy at Columbia, Hunter College, New York University and the University of California at Santa Cruz.
