University Room Setup Options

Theater Style (maximum 100)

This setup maximizes meeting room space utilization. Theater style works well when the audience needs to make minimal notes and/or the presentation is two hours or less in length. The University Room can accommodate a maximum of 100 seats if they are arranged straight across the room instead of at an angle.

Classroom Style (maximum 40)

This setup is appropriate when the conference is an informational-type presentation. The presenters provide the information with some dialogue with the audience. The seating is arranged with straight rows facing the front on either side of a center aisle. The University Room can accommodate a maximum of five rows of tables if they are arranged straight across the room rather than at an angle.

Please note: The diagram below is an estimate. Our tables comfortably accommodate two chairs only and are five feet long.

Boardroom Style (maximum 20)

Tables are set up in a rectanglular shape with chairs on both sides and ends. Suggested for small discussions of maximum 20 people.  The University Room can accommodate a maximum of four tables on each side (note that the tables are each 5' by 3' rather than the standard 6' by 3'). These tables can seat two chairs only per table.

Banquet (maximum 56)

This type of setting allows for an easy conversion from meeting room to dining room. Each round table can seat up to eight people.  Hyde Hall does not provide round-top tables.

Note: You are responsible for renting your own round-top tables.

Hollow Square (maximum 24)

A very popular configuration for board meetings and small "brainstorming" sessions when the group does not have a designated presenter/leader. The setup provides plenty of workspace for each person and good communication/visual lines for each participant. Recommended that the size of the group is 20 people or fewer.

The University Room can also accommodate a rectangular configuration with three tables along the sides. This arrangement can seat a maximum of 24.

Please note that our tables comfortably seat two chairs per table, although with this arrangement it is possible to seat five chairs per two tables.

U-Shape (maximum 20)

This setup works well with small groups that require conversations between the presenter and audience as well as conversations between participants. The presenter is able to move freely between the groups for a more intimate feel. This setup requires more space than other setups and is recommended for groups of 20 people or fewer.

The University Room can also accommodate three tables along each side. This arrangement can seat a maximum of 20.

E-Shape  (maximum 33)

The E-Shape is a variation of the U-Shape to accommodate more people while allowing the presenter to move freely between the group for a more intimate setting. Please note that the tables seat only two chairs comfortably and are three feet wide.

T-Shape (maximum 17)

The "T-Shape" is an arrangement for small discussion groups where a chairman or moderator sits at the head. The center row can be set up with double tables if more space is required for note taking. Our tables comfortably seat two chairs per table or five chairs per two tables.
